Privacy Policy
Information Collection & Use
Registration Information
When you sign up, you must provide a valid email address. We use this email address to communicate with you about your account. We also use this email address for confirmation of your identity when, for example, we are asked to reset an account's password. If we do not have your current email address, you may not be able to make changes to your account status.
Other than as described here, we do not make use of your email address. We will not share or sell your email to third parties without your consent.
Service Updates and Special Offers
We may occasionally send you information related to DocketDB's services. We expect these emails to be infrequent.
Orders and Credit Card Payment Information
To process credit card payments for your account, we collect certain other personally identifiable information, including contact information (such as name, email, and billing address) and financial information (such as credit card number, expiration date, and CVV code). We do not store the full credit card number or the CVV number on our own systems; that information is immediately passed to our payment gateway provider. The remaining information that we do store is not used for other purposes.
Security
The security of your information is important to us. On your login page and after you have logged in as a subscriber, we encrypt communications using secure socket layer technology (SSL), which should be reflected in your browser's address bar with the "https" prefix.
Some areas of the site available to the public and to non-subscribers might not be encrypted.
Legal Process
We anticipate that some of our customers will store information on our site that may be protected by rules relating to attorney-client confidences, and we will undertake to protect the privacy and anonymity of that information. When permitted by law, we will notify you if information is demanded by a third party so that you can take appropriate action to protect any information that you deem sensitive.
With that caveat, we reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our own legal rights or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on us.
Links to Other Sites
This web site contains links to other sites that are not owned or controlled by BlindCarbon LLC, including sites that are operated by government agencies. Please be aware that we cannot be responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. Accordingly, this privacy statement applies only to this web site.
Log Files and Analytics
For the Areas Open to the General Public, Including Non-Subscribers
The areas of our site available to non-subscribers have a marketing function and, as such, are logged in the ways typical of many websites. Certain information about the use of those areas is stored in log files. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer the site, and to gather demographic information about those interested enough in our site to use it but not to subscribe. We use this information to tune the site to perform better and to fine-tune the features we offer to better fit the needs of prospective users. These public areas may also be logged through tools provided by third parties, such as Google Analytics, which inserts a small amount of javascript into each page that tracks information about your use of our site.
For Subscriber Areas
We do not use javascript tracking or any sort of "analytics" software to track the movement of members once they have signed into the site. We respect the privacy of our users and their legal clients, and our view is that the less information we log about them, the more trusted a service provider we can become.
We do maintain normal server logs that track errors and other information that may help us improve our site.
Cookies
In the areas of our site available to subscribers, we use a special kind of cookie called a "session cookie", which is just a small fragment of text passed back and forth with your computer to identify you. A "session cookie" resets each time you restart your browser (that is, each time you start a new "session").
We use these session cookies to identify you to the server after you have logged into your account, and we delete these cookies when you log out. In session cookies, we have chosen the least intrusive means we know to be available to offer you a seamless experience using our site.
Changes in this Privacy Statement
The current version of our privacy policy will always be available from a link on our home page. We may modify this privacy statement at any time, so please review it as you see fit. If we make changes to this policy that we deem to be material, we may notify subscribers on the site, by email, or by means of a notice on our home page.
